If you didn't catch The Croods: A New Age in theaters last December or while it was available through premium video on demand, the family adventure comedy will soon be released on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD on Tuesday, February 23. The film is already available to own on Digital, but the home release does come with a few extra features.
One of those extra bonuses is the exclusive short titled Family Movie Night: Little Red Bronana Bread. In the short, we join the Croods for a prehistoric family movie night experience told through artistic silhouettes. As the title of the short suggests, the story is a prehistoric retelling of Little Red Riding Hood, only this time it's following Eep as she braves the wild to deliver some Bronana Bread to Gran. What's really cool about this short is the silhouette animation style in which it is told, which is seemingly inspired by the work of Lotte Reiniger and Michel Ocelot.
As in the original tale, something is not quite white with Gran when Eep arrives, but the exclusive sneak peek stops there. If you want to watch the rest, you'll have to buy The Croods: A New Age when it releases this week.
A sequel to the 2013 film, The Croods: A New Age is a computer-animated adventure comedy that follows the prehistoric family as they search for a safer place to call home. When they arrive at an idyllic walled-in paradise that seemingly meets all their needs, the Croods are surprised to meet another family -- the Bettermans, who are just a few steps above the Croods on the evolutionary ladder. With tensions growing as they try to live together and coexist, the two families are forced to put aside their differences and band together when faced with a newer, dangerous threat.
The Croods: A New Age actually released in theaters last November, despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The film grossed $154 million worldwide on a $65 million budget. Reviews were fairly positive with the sequel certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes with a 77% on the Tomatometer.
