Sonic the Hedgehog debuted in theatres back in February but is already available to purchase digitally — find out more on that here. Based on the popular video game series of the same name, Sonic the Hedgehog stars Ben Schwartz as the voice of the titular speedster as well as Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik and James Marsden as Tom Wachowski.
The latter actor recently participated in an interview with ComicBook.com in which he discussed what he would like to see in a potential sequel to the video game movie. While he himself played an entirely original character in the movie; Marsden admitted that he would love to see other beloved characters introduced such as Tails, Knuckles, and Amy.
What's more, Marsden said that he would like a sequel to include more set pieces and action sequences. That's certainly a tall order given that the first instalment featured quite a few. It's definitely understandable, though, as they were all fantastic and inventive.
Below is the exact quote from the actor in which he specifically mentions the movie's post-credits scene — so be aware of spoilers if you haven't got around to actually seeing the movie yet. On that note, click here to watch the first eight-minute of the movie online entirely for free.
Well I think we'd do a lot more of the same, but we would probably hopefully throw even more set pieces in there and more action sequences. I think we'd hopefully introduce some new characters, some beloved characters from the video game. If you stayed through the credits, you saw a little introduction to Tails. Hoping we'd see Tails come in. You know, who knows? The good thing is, is that hopefully when we come back to earth after this thing and we're still making movies, that Paramount will really fire it up again, and we'll just have double the fun.
Sonic the Hedgehog is a live-action adventure comedy based on the global blockbuster videogame franchise from Sega that centers on the infamously brash bright blue hedgehog. The film follows the (mis)adventures of Sonic as he navigates the complexities of life on Earth with his newfound – human – best friend Tom Wachowski (James Marsden). Sonic and Tom join forces to try and stop the villainous Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) from capturing Sonic and using his immense powers for world domination. The film also stars Tika Sumpter and Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic.
Sonic the Hedgehog is now available digitally — Blu-ray and Ultra 4K HD release set for May 19th, 2020.
