Sonic the Hedgehog debuted in theatres on February 14th and went on to become the highest-grossing video game movie of all time. Despite only released a month and a half ago, the live-action movie already available to purchase and download from digital storefronts — more on that here.
Since the whole movie is now available online, Paramount Pictures have decided to share the first eight minutes of the movie for all to see. Officially, the movie's opening is available to watch on YouTube (via FandangoNOW Extras) for free.
We begin with Sonic in the midst of a chase with Dr. Robotnik before swiftly flashing back to Sonic's childhood years on Green Hill Zone with, his maternal figure, Longclaw. However, the titular speedster quickly finds himself alone and biding his time on Earth.
Suffice it to say, there's a lot of action and funny moments on show here. It serves as a good teaser for the full experience. Check it out below (via Gamefragger):
Sonic the Hedgehog is a live-action adventure comedy based on the global blockbuster videogame franchise from Sega that centers on the infamously brash bright blue hedgehog. The film follows the (mis)adventures of Sonic as he navigates the complexities of life on Earth with his newfound – human – best friend Tom Wachowski (James Marsden). Sonic and Tom join forces to try and stop the villainous Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) from capturing Sonic and using his immense powers for world domination. The film also stars Tika Sumpter and Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic.
Sonic the Hedgehog is now available digitally — Blu-ray and Ultra 4K HD release set for May 19th, 2020.
