Back in May,
it was reported that Marc Webb was in talks to direct a live-action remake of
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs for Disney. Now, according to a new report by
The DisInsider, production of the film is to begin in Spring with Webb attached to direct. Specifically, it will take place in March and in Vancouver, Canada.
Webb is best known for directing
The Amazing Spider-Man and
The Amazing Spider-Man 2, as well as episodes of
The Code,
The Society,
Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, and
Gifted. Also involved is Erin Cressida — who is best known for
The Girl on the Train and will pen the
Snow White film's screenplay.
It's said that the live-action remake of
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs will be a musical. Thus, Academy Award-winning songwriters, Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (known for
La La Land and
The Greatest Showman) are involved and will write original songs for the film.
As well as when production will begin; the report mentions that Disney has begun the casting search for the roles of the titular
"Princess, Prince, Evil Queen/Old Hag, and the seven dwarfs." Previously, the character Snow White was played in live-action by Lily Collins and Kristen Stewart in 2012's
Mirror Mirror and
Snow White and the Huntsman respectively.
