With
Aladdin recently releasing in theatres, that's one live-action Disney remake down, now another shall take its place. According to a new report by
Variety, Marc Webb is being eyed to direct Disney's live-action remake of
Snow White.
Webb is best known for directing
The Amazing Spider-Man and
The Amazing Spider-Man 2, as well as episodes of
The Code,
The Society,
Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, and
Gifted. While his two
Spider-Man movies were only moderately recieved, they were greatly praised for their love story, something which would obviously be a crucial part of
Snow White to do justice.
The same report makes mention that Erin Cressida (The Girl on the Train) is in talks to write its screenplay. Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (
La La Land and
The Greatest Showman) will write original songs for the live-action adaptation. Additionally, Marc Platt is listed as a producer.
There have been multiple theatrical adaptations of the classic animated film from 1938, these include:
Mirror Mirror (which starred Lily Collins and Julia Roberts) as well as
Snow White and the Huntsman (which starred Charlize Theron, Chris Hemsworth, and Kristen Stewart). Those two films both released in 2012 and the latter of the two had a sequel in 2016.
