Playmobil: The Movie is an upcoming animated, musical, action-adventure flick starring Anya Taylor-Joy, Daniel Radcliffe, Gabriel Bateman, Jim Gaffigan, Kenan Thompson, Adam Lambert, and Meghan Trainor. Based on the popular toyline of the same name, Disney veteran Lino DiSalvo directs.

The animated film recently arrived in theatres in the United States and was a complete and utter failure. Prior to release, projections made it clear that it would be a massive shock if the film performed well.

Made on a $40 million budget, the film only made $13.1 million during its opening weekend — $660,000 earned in the US and Canada, $12.5 million from elsewhere. Playmobil: The Movie now holds the title for the fourth-worst opening weekend for a film that screened in over 2,000 theatres.

As for why the movie has done so poorly at the box office. It's believed to be due to poor marketing and a weak connection between kids and the toy brand.

In PLAYMOBIL’s® animated action adventure, a top secret organization has caused citizens from different lands to vanish from thin air. The dashing and charismatic secret agent Rex Dasher (Daniel Radcliffe) must partner with smooth-talking food truck driver Del (Jim Gaffigan) and Marla (Anya Taylor-Joy) a smart, savvy civilian with her own secret agenda, to rescue them. Against unthinkable odds, the trio go on a fantastic journey across stunning new worlds as they gather clues for their rescue mission.

Playmobil: The Movie will arrive in theatres on December 6th, 2019.
