After the debut of the first trailer for the
Sonic the Hedgehog movie, and subsequent backlash on account of the titular character's redesign; Jeff Fowler, the director of the upcoming Paramount movie, took to Twitter to announce that they would be redoing the Sonic's movie look from scratch and that the film will now release in February 2020 rather than in November.
Well, according to an official social media account of
Sonic the Hedgehog (via
Gamefragger), the film has been delayed yet again. Previously, the bio of the film's official Twitter account mentioned that the upcoming film will debut in February. However, now it says
"Speeding into theatres March 2020."
While the release date only seems to have been delayed by one month, it's obviously still a notable change. That being said; curiously, it doesn't seem that Paramount has announced this change (other than quietly in this bio).
Update: The official Twitter account's bio has been altered again, now stating that the Sonic the Hedgehog movie will debut in theatres in February 2020. The social media account's banner has similarly been updated to reiterate its February release.
Sonic the Hedgehog will now release in theatres on February 14th, 2019.
