With Disney's
Mulan hitting theaters in just a few months, Funko has unveiled two new collectible Pop! Disney figures based on the live-action film. The new like currently features only two Pop! figures and both are of Mulan, but in two different outfits.
The first Pop! Mulan (shipping in January) is dressed in her warrior garb "ready to take action in defense of her emperor." The second (shipping in February) features Mulan dressed in her everyday clothes "ready for more ordinary adventures."
Both figures perfectly convey the overall gist of the film, which stars Liu Yifei as the main character, Mulan, who steps in to take the place of her ailing father when he's summoned to serve in the Imperial Army to defend against the Northern invaders. In order to do so, Mulan must masquerade as a man, Hua Jun, as she fulfills her destiny as an honored warrior.
Mulan is directed by Niki Caro from a screenplay by Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver and Elizabeth Martin & Lauren Hynek. Although most are familiar with the story of Mulan from Disney's 1998 animated classic, the screenplay is based on the narrative poem "
The Ballad of Mulan." The live-action film will also not feature any musical numbers or appearances Mushu, the animated dragon who helped guide Mulan in the animated film.
Speaking of the animated film, there's also a batch of Pop! vinyl figures coming based on that one as well.
Mushu, Li Shang, Mulan as Ping, and Mulan on Khan are among the animated movie Pops! coming in February.
