Disney's couldn't have wished for a better outcome for its live-action
Aladdin film after a poor showing for it's live-action
Dumbo remake.
Aladdin's $7 million Thursday preview nearly tripled
Dumbo's $2.6 million. Estimates have been revised for the film's 4-day Memorial weekend gross, rising from $75-$83 million to $80-$95 million.
This bodes well for the next string of live-action remakes from the House of Mouse, which includes
The Lion King (2019),
Mulan (2020),
Cruella (TBD),
Pinocchio (TBD),
The Little Mermaid (TBD), and
The Hunchback of Notre Dame (TBD). There's also rumors of a live-action remake of
Hercules so it's entirley possible that so long as these films continue to prove profitable, Disney will keep churning them out.
