Ryan Reynolds recently shared a photo from behind-the-scenes of Detective Pikachu which reveals just how the film's creative team went about creating such a convincing range of expressions for the adorable, yellow Pokemon.
The first trailer, which dropped in November of last year, shows off Reynolds in the role of Pikachu. It seems that Reynolds didn't only provide his voice to the role, but also spent time with motion-capture dots across his face - therefore allowing his acting ability to imbue life into Detective Pikachu on top of his divisive vocals.
In the below Instagram (@vancityreynolds) post Reynolds shares the frame with Pikachu, demonstrating the likeness-capturing technology. It's certainly interesting and, looking back at the released footage, you can totally see Reynolds' presence as Detective Pikachu expresses determination, shock, and the like.
What do you think of Reynolds' post? Are you looking forward to Detective Pikachu?
Detective Pikachu is set to arrive in theatres on May 10th, 2019.
