Detective Pikachu will be releasing into theatres in one week. Anticipation for the live-action Pokemon film as been high since its first trailer dropped five months ago. Now that reviews for the film are being released online, we'll know whether that anticipation was warranted.

Rotten Tomatoes recently made a post on social-media  (@RottenTomatoes) which officially revealed Detective Pikachu's initial Tomatometer rating - that being 67%. If you're unfamiliar with how Rotten Tomatoes works; basically the site takes notable reviews into account, then figures out a percentage based on how many of them frame the film in a positive light.

At the time of their tweet, only 22 reviews had been taken into account. However, now 26 are accounted for and thus the rating has risen slightly to 69%. The relevant consensus goes as follows: "Pokémon Detective Pikachu may not take its wonderfully bizarre premise as far as it could have, but this offbeat adaptation should catch most -- if not all -- of the franchise's fans." You can check out the score for yourself by clicking here.

Detective Pikachu is set to release in theatres on May 10th, 2019.
