Yesterday in a television interview with The Talk, Amy Adams revealed that she’s on board to reprise her role as Giselle in the long-awaited sequel to Disney’s 2007 live-action/ animation hybrid film Enchanted. The sequel, which is entitled Disenchanted, was previously in development as early as 2014.
On The Talk, co-host Sara Gilbert asked Adams about her willingness to reprise her role as Princess Giselle in a possible sequel.
“I am absolutely up for that,” stated Adams in response. “We’re working on it — so hopefully.”
In the 2007 film, the animated princess Giselle jumps from the carefree, animated world of Andalasia into the real world. The film grossed $340.5 million at the global box office and was nominated for three Oscars for Best Song, all composed by Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz. Alongside Amy Adams, the film starred Patrick Dempsey, James Marsden, Timothy Spall, Idina Menzel, Rachel Covey and Susan Sarandon, but there is no word yet that any of the actors will be reprising their roles. The 2D animation for the original film was completed by James Baxter Animation.
While there has not been any new updates from Disney on the development of Disenchanted, the last official word was that Adam Shankman was lined up to direct after taking over the project from Anne Fletcher, and J. David Stem and David N. Weiss were adapting a script from an earlier draft written by Jessie Nelson. Disenchanted will also be produced by Barry Josephson and Barry Sonnenfeld.
Adams appeared on The Talk to promote her new HBO series Sharp Objects. The interview can be seen here.
