It's beginning to feel like Disney's upcoming Snow White remake is doomed before we see so much as a single frame of footage. In recent weeks, the movie has been embroiled in controversy due to the decision to cut the Seven Dwarfs in what many feel is political correctness gone mad.

Now, what was once one of the studio's most highly anticipated live-action reboots has been besieged by negative headlines before its planned release next year; at this stage, a Disney+ debut rather than a theatrical one looks likely.

Talking of streaming, that's one of the many reasons writers and actors are currently on strike and Snow White herself, Rachel Zegler, recently hit the picket lines.

"If I'm gonna stand there 18 hours a day in the dress of an iconic Disney Princess," the Shazam!: Fury of the Gods star says in the video below, "I deserve to be paid for every hour that it's streamed online."

Something tells us Disney isn't going to appreciate these comments, but like a lot of actors, Zegler is looking to be paid in perpetuity for Snow White when it hits Disney+ and is viewed over and over and over by paying subscribers.

It's an understandable request, albeit one it could be hard to put a price tag on for studios who currently keep streaming viewership data a closely guarded secret.

The Amazing Spider-Man director Marc Webb helms Snow White, while Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot is set to play the movie's Evil Queen. Very little has been revealed about this reimagining, though all signs point to it taking some liberties with the classic animated feature it's based on.

Snow White is set to be released in theaters on March 22, 2024.
