To promote her new Netflix action thriller, Heart of Stone, Gal Gadot sat down with GQ to answer some burning internet questions.
One of the questions asked revealed that fans are keen to learn more about Gadot's role in the upcoming live-action Snow White film, which is a musical.
As seen in the video, when asked if she was in the film, Gadot confirmed and revealed that she actually had to audition for the role of the Evil Queen.
"That is correct. So yes, I'm gonna play the Evil Queen. It was the first time I kind of had to audition for a project in a while. They needed to make sure I can sing because this is a musical. So for a month, I was working on the song and then I auditioned, we filmed the song and I got the part. It was very exciting. It was so much to shoot because it was so different than anything I've ever done. It's so delicious and delightful and I could really go big and theatrical. I can't wait for you to watch this movie."
The Snow White movie is currently embroiled in a bit of controversy with the anti-woke crowd, who have fixated on comments from the movie's lead, Rachel Zegler, and on leaked set photos that reportedly show a more diverse interpretation of the seven dwarfs.
The live-action Snow White film is directed by Marc Webb (The Amazing Spider-Man), who filmed the project based on a script written by Barbie director Greta Gerwig and Erin Cressida Wilson (The Girl on the Train).
In addition to Zegler and Gadot, the film also stars Ansu Kabia as the Huntsman, Martin Klebba as Grumpy, and Andrew Burnap as Jonathan.
The live-action musical follows a rather recent live-action Snow White project, Snow White and the Huntsman, which starred Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron, Chris Hemsworth, and Sam Claflin in 2011. However, that film was based on the traditional German Brothers Grimm fairytale and was produced by Universal Pictures. The upcoming musical will be a more faithful recreation of the 1937 animated Disney classic.
Disney's Snow White musical is currently set for release on March 22, 2024.
