With Young Justice set to return next year, five years after its initial cancellation, details on the superhero show are tightly under wraps for now. Though, with events like San Diego Comic-Con, we do get snippets of information thrown our way on occasion.
Thankfully, with SDCC recently passing, we're privy to an intriguing, potential tease - thanks to an interview between Artemis' talented vocice actress Stephanie Lemelin and Comicbook.com. Lemelin explained how there are major changes in store for her character:
A lot's changed for me in that five year gap, I had three children. I can't talk too much about our storyline, but I was just able to draw a lot from my life and all of the maturation that takes place in one's life as time passes and the different things you go through in relationships at home and at work. They really play with all of that on the show.
Now, while it's not a certainty so don't get your hopes up too high, Lemelin explains how she was able to draw from her real life experiences for the role - after speaking about becoming a mother. It's pretty clear what that seems to be implying, as the series producer, Greg Weisman, joked afterwards "Now everyone's gonna think that Artemis has three children. And I'm not saying it's not true." Art director Chris Bourassa quickly added "She just gave away her whole storyline!"
Young Justice: Invasion, the show's second season, was brought to a close with Wally West's heroic sacrifice. Lemelin explained how Artemis feels about Kid Flash's disappearance five years later: "Artemis is still mourning. She's still in mourning, I can say that is true."
What do you think about Lemelin's comments? Are looking forward to Young Justice and Artemis' return next year?
