In a recent newsletter,
The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that the cast of
X-Men: The Animated Series will be reuniting at Los Angeles Comic Con on October 12th.
This will mark the first time that Cal Dodd (Wolverine), Lenore Zann (Rogue), George Buza (Beast) Chris Potter (Gambit) and Chris Britton (Mr. Sinister) will have appeared on stage together since the popular Saturday morning cartoon was brought to an end.
But what's even more interesting is that, according to THR's report, the creative team behind the 90s cartoon series are planning on approaching Disney with a pitch for an onscreen continuation of the series. X-Men artist Larry Houston was quoted as saying:
"The one thing we'd like to do more than anything else is to continue where we left off."
The original series launched on October 31st, 1992 in the United States on the Fox Kids network. It was brought to an end on September 20th, 1997 after 76 episodes.
X-Men: The Animated Series is thought of as pioneering the concept of an animated series featuring mature and serialised storylines. It's also said that the series paved the way for the Marvel Comics franchise's eventual big screen debut. This would go onto to spawn the superheroic cinema landscape that we know today.
