Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig and the rest of your favorite Looney Tunes characters are making a comeback, courtesy of a new short-form content program from Warner Bros. Animation. Coming in 2019,
Looney Tunes Cartoons will be reminiscent of the classic theatrical shorts and distributed across multiple platforms - including digital, mobile and broadcast.
Looney Tunes Cartoons promises
"high production value" with a
"cartoonist-driven approach to storytelling." More specifically, each short will be "written" and drawn to allow the cartoonists own personality and style to show. The studio is aiming to produce a 1,000-minute season, with each individual cartoon varying from one to six minutes in length.
“The Looney Tunes are one of the most beloved group of animated characters in the world,” said Warner Bros. Animation President Sam Register. “Looney Tunes Cartoons places these characters into the hands of some of the best artists in the business and into an animated shorts format that will remind many of the time when they first fell in love with Bugs, Daffy, Porky and the rest of the gang.”
The
Looney Tunes Cartoons will premiere in 2019, though we don't have exact specifics just yet. Still, it's exciting to know that the classic group of characters that many of us group up with will now reach a new generation of viewers.
