Yesterday, Netflix announced a collaboration with Studio MDHR and King Features Syndicate to bring to life an animated series based on the popular indie video game by the name of
Cuphead.
The Cuphead Show! will expand on the world and characters that were first introduced in the afformentioned indie game that released in late 2017. Chad and Jared Moldenhauer, the creators of
Cuphead, will serve as executive producers for the animated series.
The former of the two executive producers recently did an interview with
The Hollywood Reporter in which he alluded to
The Cuphead Show! retaining the same animation style of the video game. If you're unfamiliar,
Cuphead features an awesome hand-drawn art style based on cartoons of the 1930s.
"Right now we aren't sharing any specific details on the show's visual style." While Moldenhauer didn't go as far as to confirm that the show will feature the iconic art style, he did state that they're determined to avoid computer-assisted animation.
"With that said, we're keen to stay as far away from computer-assisted puppeteer animation as possible and are proud to be working with a creative team that really believes in the value of hand animation." Moldenhauer held the same sentiment in regards to whether the music of the game will be carried over into the show.
