Shaggy In The MULTIVERSUS Crossover Fighting Game Is Based On The 'Ultra Instinct Shaggy' Meme

Matthew Lillard, best known for playing Shaggy in the live-action Scooby-Doo movies, will be the voice of 'Ultra Instinct Shaggy' in Warner Bros. Games MultiVersus. Hit the jump...

Coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC in 2022, MultiVersus is an upcoming crossover fighting game developed by Warner Bros. Games. The game features characters from various Warner Bros. properties including Steven Universe, Adventure Time, Tom and Jerry, Looney Tunes, and more.

One of the most notable inclusions is that of Shaggy from Scooby-Doo who will be a playable character. He is based on the 'Ultra Instinct Shaggy' meme that circulated a couple years back and proposed that Shaggy is actually the most powerful character in the multiverse. The official description of the character reads as follows (via Gamefragger):

"The last thing Shaggy remembers before The Change was exploring another spooky old mansion with his pal Scoob, just like any other day with the gang. He found a strange glowing crystal and, thinking it was rock candy, went to take a bite. There was a FLASH… and then blackness. When he came to, he found himself in possession of incredible powers. He doesn't know where they came from or how they work, but he's vowed to use them to vanquish evil and protect the little guy. As soon as he gets some lunch, that is."

Matthew Lillard will reprise the role of Shaggy for the upcoming, multiversal fighting game. Lillard is best known for playing the character in the live-action Scooby-Doo movies that came out in the early 2000s but he has also intermittently featured as the voice of the character in various animated outings. Fans were disappointed to find out Lillard wasn't the voice of Shaggy in recent animated movie Scoob! so this development is sure to go down well.

MultiVersus is a new platform fighter that lets you team up with or against your friends as some of the world’s most iconic characters including Batman, Shaggy, Superman, Bugs Bunny, and more. Use unique co-op abilities, find your favorite fighter combos, and save the Multiverse!

MultiVersus will be coming in 2022 to the Playstation 4, Playstation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
