Trainers have been pampered this year with new releases of
Pokémon, usually those being originally from the Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl mainline series titles. The truth is, however, that players are just as happy with the opportunity to capture any new Pokémon for the first time, regardless which Region they initially appeared in, and as such, should be excited to know that despite being a creature from the third Generation of Pokémon titles, Clamperl is joining the party.
This Saturday, February 23, will see a Community Day style event where frequenters of Pokémon GO will have their first available chance at capturing Clamperl! The Bivalve Pokémon has the ability to evolve into two separate Pokémon: Huntail and Gorebyss. Anyone who captured a Clamperl in Gen III will likely remember the creature's evolution conditions to require an item, but Niantic has stated that that will not be the case in Pokémon GO. Instead, it has been confirmed that trainers will not know which evolution they receive until actual evolution time.
Unlike most Community Day rules, Clamperl will not be appearing in the wild; though Water Type Pokémon — such as Krabby and Wailmer — will. Instead, the little guy will need to be found via Reseach Event which is only available during Community Day (Clamperl Day). While players will have plenty of time to complete the tasks and encounter them after the event is over, Clamperl will only be given during the announced times; which are as follows:
The Americas And Greenland
-
11 AM - 2 PM PT
-
2 PM - 5 PM ET
