Netflix has announced that a new anime series based on Osamu Tezuka's iconic managa Astro Boy is in development, and is set to debut on the streaming service later this year.
Details are still few and far between, but we do have an extended first look at PLUTO via a visually-stunning 4-minute teaser, which you can check out below.
Viz Media, who published the manga in North America, describes the story as follows:
"In a distant future where sentient humanoid robots pass for human, someone or something is out to destroy the seven great robots of the world. Europol's top detective Gesicht is assigned to investigate these mysterious robot serial murders - the only catch is that he himself is one of the seven targets."
PLUTO's main voice cast has also been revealed.
Shinshu Fuji will play Gesicht, "A high-performance detective robot Yoko Hikasa has been cast as Atom, "A robot virtually identical to a human, and Minori Suzuki will provide the voice of Uran, "Atom's younger sister who has the ability to sense sadness."
