Get ready for another adventure because Carmen Sandiego is returning to Netflix for a second season. The streaming service announced on Friday that the animated series is officially returning, but that was all in terms of details. An exact premiere date for Season 2 was not revealed.
The sophomore season will look to build on the initial nine episodes which introduced the iconic red-coated character to a new generation of adventurers. Netflix did take some creative liberties with the series, offering some background on Carmen and turning her into a thief we could root for as she travels the world in an attempt to foil V.I.L.E.'s evil plans.
What's also unclear is how Netflix is handling this split from Season 1 to Season 2. As The Wrap points out, Netflix originally gave a 20-episode order for the show. With Season 1 only consisting of nine of these episodes, there are still 11 remaining. While Netflix did confirm the show's renewal for a second season, it remains unclear if these are additional episodes to that first order or if those remaining 11 episodes are just being labeled as a second season.
Either way, we can look forward to
Carmen Sandiego returning to Netflix at some point in the future.
Everybody asks "WHERE is Carmen Sandiego?", but nobody asks "WHO is Carmen Sandiego?" The iconic woman in red returns for new international capers and a peek into her past.
Season 1 of
Carmen Sandiego is now streaming on Netflix. The titular character is voiced by Gina Rodriguez who will also portray the character in a planned live-action version for the streaming service as well.
