In August of last year, Disney announced that a brand-new tv show based on Jim Henson's beloved Muppets series would be streaming on the then-yet-to-be-launched streaming platform Disney+ in the form of Muppets Now.
The announcement itself didn't tell us much about the show — because, of course Joe the Legal Weasel wouldn't let Kermit tell us all about it — but it did reveal that its format would be unscripted, which already mades this an interesting concept for a new Muppets show.
After all of this waiting, today Disney has released the first official trailer for Muppets Now, and the trailer does reveal pretty much everything that fans need to know about the upcoming series.
For starters, Muppets Now will officially begin streaming on Disney+ on the 31st of July, and it will be featuring some celebrity guest stars to spice things up. Joe the Legal Weasel is at it again, so he won't let Kermit tell us who these celebrities will be, although we do get to see the likes of Linda Cardellini and Aubrey Plaza popping up.
Alongside the official trailer, Disney also shared a small batch of screenshots from the show, and we suggest that you open them in a different tab to fully appreciate them, so be sure to check out both the trailer for Muppets Now and the screenshots down below.
Take a look:
In a true first for the studio, “Muppets Now” is an unscripted series filled with improv comedy, off-the-cuff gags, and the Muppets’ celebrity friends. In the six-episode season, Scooter rushes to make his delivery deadlines and upload the brand-new Muppet series for streaming. They are due now, and he’ll need to navigate whatever obstacles, distractions, and complications the rest of the Muppets throws at him.
Muppets Now will begin streaming exclusively on Disney+ on the 31st of July.
