Marvel Rising: Initiation premiered this week, introducing fans to the new world of "Marvel Rising." With all six animated shorts are
available to stream online right now, Marvel has decided to spotlight Daisy Johnson's Quake, who actually has a pretty prominent role in the series.
While Marvel fans are probably used to seeing Daisy Johnson in ABC's
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., the version in
Marvel Rising: Initiation is quite different. In the video below, actress Chloe Bennet, who voices the
Marvel Rising version, talks a bit about their differences and what makes the animated version standout.
"Daisy in Marvel Rising is kind of a young gun, who is a little bit more feisty. She has something to prove," Bennet says of the character.
Bennet also briefly addresses how
Marvel Rising: Initiation can help empower young females. While the web series isn't explicitly geared towards girls, female superheroes are at the front-and-center of
Initiation, which focuses on Gwen Stacy's Ghost-Spider (formerly known as Spider-Gwen). The show also features several other powerful female heroes including Squirrel Girl, Ms. Marvel, and, of course, Quake.
Gwen Stacy AKA Ghost-Spider, wrongly accused of a crime she didn’t commit, seeks justice and to clear her name. Unfortunately, her dad is not only Captain of the NYPD, but spearheading the manhunt!
To make matters worse, other young heroes - Ms. Marvel, Squirrel Girl, Quake and Patriot are after Ghost Spider as well. But, as the chase to uncover the truth winds down— a darker threat looms along the horizon, and very soon, these heroes will need to put aside their differences and work together as a team.
Marvel Rising: Initiation is available to watch online right now. Following this web series of shorts, Marvel will debut the feature-length animated film, Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors, later this year.
