Back in August, it was announced that Kevin Smith is putting together a continuation of the classic Masters of the Universe cartoon in the form of an anime series for Netflix.

Masters of the Universe: Revelation will bring to a close "unresolved storylines of the classic ‘80s era, picking up many of the characters’ journeys where they left off decades ago." Smith is attached as an executive producer and showrunner.

Rob David, VP of Mattel Television and the author of He-Man: The Eternity War, will also executive produce. The following writers are on board to construct the series: Eric Carrasco (Supergirl), Tim Sheridan (Reign of the Supermen), Diya Mishra (Magic the Gathering) and Marc Bernardin (Alphas). Powerhouse Animation will animate — they're best known for Netflix's Castlevania series.

In a recent Q&A on Twitter (via @ThatKevinSmith), Smith was asked when we should expect to get our first look at his Masters of the Universe series. The showrunner teased that his good friend Jason Mewes will probably get a role in it before cautioning that we shouldn't expect to see anything official for a long while.

"I'm sure he'll [Jason Mewes] will end up being a voice in. He ain't gonna be Orco, I'll tell you that right now, but I can get him in there somewhere. He seems like a Stinkor to me. But in any event, when will you see art? Probably not for a while. Don't count on at least for six months but I've seen stuff and it's amazing," Smith said in a Twitter video which you can check out below.
