Today is the day that we commemorate the world's favourite grim hero - Batman Day. One fan-favourite Batman: The Animated Series alum showed his respect for the Dark Knight today - his "one and only" in particular.
Mark Hamill, known most prominently for his role as Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars saga, took to Twitter to express his gratitude for the animated series which aired in the 90s. Hamill's many iterations of the Joker are regarded as some of the best, alongside Kevin Conroy's sonorous Caped Crusader - whom Hamill made sure to call-out.
His tweet stated how he'd longed for a role opposed to the Jedi, a longing which would be solved by the beloved animated series. "For years, I dreamed of finding a part as far from Luke as possible... Thanks to everyone at #BatmanTheAnimatedSeries for making my dreams come true! ON this special day a SHOUT OUT to my one & only #DarkKnight: @RealKevinControy."
Hamill's Joker lasted for two seasons on Batman: The Animated Series - from 1992 and 1995. The voice actor has since reprised his role in many spin-offs, films, and video games - most notable the Arkham game series.
Comic-book lover and director Kevin Smith similarly took to Twitter to celebrate Batman Day. Smith's post featured a quote from Batman: The Brave and The Bold - yet another animated series which followed the Dark Knight's adventures.
What do you think of the actor and director's tweets? Have you showed you love for Batsy today?
