Not many of us might have heard of the hit CGI animated series known as Mondo Yan, but despite that, big things are happening. From what we’ve come to understand, Imira Entertainment, one of the largest animation studios in Spain, is teaming up with Televisió de Catalunya (TVC), Indian’s Toonz Media Group, and Telegael from Ireland.
The team up is all about the co-production and global distribution of Mondo Yan around the world. The report claims that the CEO of Imira, Paul Robinson, is one of the major players behind this deal as it seeks to improve his company’s growth.
It goes without saying that Mr. Robinson is a former executive at both NBCUniversal and Disney, therefore, one can say he has a lot of experience in this field.
What is Mondo Yan all about?
The series is an action comedy designed to target children from five to eight years old. The main characters are April, Xia, and Pai, and they regularly go on all sorts of adventures where they do heroic things.
The three heroes are assigned with the task of saving the Earth from a villain that comes from the underworld.
“Pure entertainment and classic animation, ‘Mondo Yan’ turns on the daily problems kids face in a humorous tongue-in-cheek way. Its common thread is making kids laugh at ludicrous and slightly crazy situations where, however much squashing goes on, no one gets hurt,” according to a statement from Robinson.
CGI animations are on the rise when compared to the traditional way of doing things, and that’s primarily due to cost. Expect to see a lot more of CGI cartoons in the near future as studios move to cut cost.
