Anyone who grew up in the '90s will immediately recognize Goliath and the gang, but for those of you who are unfamiliar with the petrified heroes,
Gargoyles was an American animated television series produced by Walt Disney and distributed by Buena Vista Television. The series originally aired from October 24, 1994 to February 15, 1997, featuring a species of nocturnal gargoyles that turn to stone during the day. Re-awakened in modern day New York City after a thousand years in an enchantedly petrified state, the gargoyles become the city's secret night-time protectors.
In a time when
Spider-Man: The Animated Series and
X-Men: The Animated Series were successful for their vibrant ways,
Gargoyles found success with it's darker tonal approach, being favorably compared to the time period's
Batman: The Animated Series. Now, in a time when comic book characters are all the hype, the cast of
Gargoyles will be joining the brothers and sisters of their nostalgic time perid by becoming immortalized in Funko Pop statuesque form.
Below you can see each of the five characters to receive the latest Funko Pop treatment in the following order: Goliath, Demona, Brooklyn, Lexington, and Bronx.
In addition the the regular Pops there will also be Hot Topic exclusive keychain versions of both Goliath and Demona for anyone who wants to sport one of the night's defenders on the regular. What is possibly most exciting, however, is the addition of stone versions of the
Gargoyles Pops. A Hudson and Bronx stone two-pack (pictured below) can be snagged at FYE, while stone versions of Goliath and Demona can be claimed at Target and Hot Topic respectively.
