Does anyone remember the popular Disney cartoon, Recess? If you do, then what are your thoughts on a live-action remake? No, the folks at Disney are not planning one right now, but rather an independent group of fans.
From what we've gathered, filmmakers Jerome Yoo and Kent Donguines, are making plans right now to bring Recess to life. It's a daunting task, but the production team, based in Vancouver, Canada, is confident they can pull it off for the fans.
Now, this Recess live-action film is different from the cartoon in one major area. You see, this time around, the characters are teenagers instead of children, and the story takes place in high school.
“Picture 10-year-old you sitting in front of the TV, watching TJ, Spinelli, Gretchen, Vince, Mikey, Gus, Randall, the Ashleys and the rest of the colorful cast at 3rd Street Elementary School getting up to their usual hijinks. You lay your head to rest that night and dream about being part of this group and then awake 20 years later and think: ‘Hey, I wonder what happened to the Recess gang when they went to high school?’ Well, YOU’RE WELCOME, because we’re here to answer that question for you!”
Things are not yet set in stone despite the film currently being in post-production. The team is seeking your help via
IndieGogo to aid in putting things together. The team needs $9000 to get going, but with just five days to go, they've only managed to make $900.
