While The Simpsons became a show for the whole family, creator Matt Groening’s upcoming series, Disenchantment, is solely aimed at adults.
The new show will follow a hard-drinking princess named Bean, Elfo her companaion and personal demon Luci, as they venture through the crumbling medieval kingdom of Dreamland.
John DiMaggio, the voice of Bender in Futurama and Jake the Dog in Adventure Time, recently discussed the show with Digital Spy:
It’s as if The Simpsons fornicated with Game of Thrones. It’s fantastic. It’s right on time… it’s really, really funny.
Matt is brilliant and the people who write the show are brilliant. They can be really dirty and filthy without being dirty and filthy. And it’s a better way to tell a joke. I, unfortunately, am not that smart so I go to the gutter immediately. They paint a very beautiful picture of the gutter.
With The Simpsons and Game of Thrones being two of the most popular shows ever put to screen; we'll just have to wait and see if DiMaggio's statement hold true once the show debuts on August 17th.
DiMaggio also confirmed that he would be voicing the role of the king in the upcoming series - admitting "I'm really excited about it." So, with such dependable voice talent behind it, hopefully Disenchantment will be as great as it's said to be.
What do you think? Are you excited for the show?
