Batman: Soul of the Dragon, the next animated film in the long-running line of the popular DC Universe Movies series, is set to release this month. Leading up to its Digital release next week, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has been releasing various clips.
The first clip, "First Time," sees Bruce Wayne (voiced by David Giuntoli) reach his martial arts training destination in the icy mountains and have his first encounter with master O-Sensei (voiced by James Hong). In the second clip, "Soul Braker," the Martial arts master introduces to his students -- Bruce Wayne, Shiva, Ben Turner and Richard Dragon -- to the all-powerful Soulbreaker, a sword made with dark magic that is a "key to life and death." This cursed relic figures to play heavily into the original story of Batman: Soul of the Dragon as it has the potential to tear a hole in time and space. The third released so far features Ben Turner (voiced by Michael Jai White) as he drops in on a group of criminals and unleashes some early Bronze Tiger moves.
Set in the early '70s, Soul of the Dragon follows Bruce Wayne as he faces a deadly menace from his past, with the help of Richard Dragon, Bronze Tiger, and Lady Shiva.
Set in the midst of the swinging 1970s, this Elseworlds adventure finds Bruce Wayne training under a master sensei. It is here that Bruce, along with other elite students, is forged in the fire of the martial arts discipline. The lifelong bonds they form will be put to the test when a deadly menace arises from their past. It will take the combined efforts of Batman, world-renowned martial artists Richard Dragon, Ben Turner, and Lady Shiva and their mentor O-Sensei to battle the monsters of this world and beyond!
Batman: Soul of the Dragon is produced and directed by Sam Liu (Reign of the Superman, Batman: The Killing Joke). It's scripted by Jeremy Adams (Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge). Michael Uslan is Executive Producer, while Bruce Timm (Batman: The Animated Series, Superman: Red Son) and Sam Register are Executive Producers.
Batman: Soul of the Dragon releases on Digital starting January 12, 2021 and arrives on 4K Combo Pack and Blu-ray on January 26, 2021.
