Christopher Lloyd, star of the iconic time-travel film Back to the Future, recently revealed that he'd love to make an appearance on popular animated comedy series Rick and Morty.
The irreverent cartoon series is obviously a parody of iconic pop culture and sci-fi. Back to the Future's main characters, Doc and Marty, are very clearly the inspiration behind both the characters Rick and Morty - as Lloyd made note of whilst discussing the show with Phoenix New Times.
I don't follow it closely, but I've seen a few episodes and I gotta tell you, I think it's a lot of fun. I know it's some kind of parody of Doc and Marty.
Upon being asked whether he'd like to make some kind of guest appearance on the show, Lloyd gave an enthusiastic affirmative - even going so far as to suggest he play Rick's father.
I’d like to, of course. I think it’s really fun. That’d be fun.
Lloyd also went on to discuss Back to the Future further, providing a heartwarming recount of fan experiences - which have made him grateful for being a part of the renowned and iconic trilogy.
I think it's a very positive film. A lot of people, especially at events, have told me Back to the Future helped them survive whatever issues they dealt with in their adolescence or before that. Back to the Future helped lift their spirits and be more optimistic. I think that's a big thing and I'm so glad to be a part of something that helped people cope and get through their hardships.
The actor also reiterated a willingness to return to the Back to the Future franchise should its original creative team, Robert Zemeckis and screenwriter Bob Gale, be on-board with a long-awaited follow-up “the right idea that extends the story and does it as well as the first three.”
What do you think about Lloyd's statements? Would you like to see him make an appearance on Rick and Morty?
