At the end of last year, Marvel surprised us all with the unexpected announcement of X-Men '97. The upcoming animated original series will serve as a continuation to the fan favorite '90s series X-Men: The Animated Series, with much of the original cast returning.
One of the confirmed voice actors returning is Cal Dodd, who voiced Wolverine in the original series. Although X-Men '97 won't premiere on Disney+ until 2023, production is already underway on the series. And Dodd announced his return to the studio on social media.
"Guess what I was doing in the studio today? SO great to be back!!!," the actor tweeted alongside a photo of himself in the studio.
Dodd voiced the adamantium-clawed mutant in all five seasons of X-Men: The Animated Series and in two episodes of Spider-Man: The Animated Series. Although he's remained busy in the industry, this will be the first time Dodd reprise's his role as Wolverine since the original X-Men series ended in 1997.
Dodd isn't the only original voice actor returning for the revival series. Disney also confirmed original cast members Lenore Zann (Rogue), George Buza (Beast), Alison Sealy-Smith (Storm), Chris Potter (Gambit), Catherine Disher (Jean Grey), Adrian Hough (Nightcrawler), and Christopher Britton (Minister Sinister). Unfortunately, Norm Spencer (Cyclops) and David Hemblen (Magneto) both passed away in 2020.
