Looking for a little cheer this year? Adult Swim's animated comedy Smiling Friends is headed to HBO Max and will make its debut on the streaming service on February 9.

The pilot episode for Smiling Friends first premiered on April 1, 2020 as part of Adult Swim's annual April Fools Day event and has since become one of the most-watched episodes on AdultSwim.com. Also available on YouTube, the episode has garnered over seven million views to date.

Co-created by Michael Cusack (YOLO: Crystal Fantasy) and Zach Hadel (Hellbenders), Smiling Friends "follows the employees of a small company dedicated to bringing happiness to a bizarre yet colorful world." Answering the out-calls to cheer people up are the cynical Charlie and star employee Pim. Back at the office, we have the meticulous Allan keeping things in order, the mysterious Gelp, and the unpredictable billionaire Boss, founder of the company. And that's only the tip of the iceberg with this colorful cast of bizarre characters.

Smiling Friends actually officially premiered this week on Adult Swim with two new episodes. The first season, which consists of eight episodes, will run through the end of January 2022, at which point the series will become available on HBO Max in February.
