Is Taylor Swift entering her Pixar era? A few weeks ago, the music queen updated her website with a mysterious countdown set against a blue sky with white clouds. Anyone who knows Andy's room immediately connected it to the iconic wallpaper from Toy Story.
The countdown vanished quickly, but Swifties see everything. The prevailing theory is that Taylor wrote a brand new track for the Toy Story 5 soundtrack. Directors Andrew Stanton and Mckenna Harris have denied the collab, but that hasn't stopped fans from driving the getaway car straight into theory town.
It also doesn't help that Disney and Pixar love to stoke the rumor flames. The latest mastermind move comes from billboards spotted on Friday. The ads feature giant letters spelling out TS, which just happens to be the acronym for both Toy Story and Taylor Swift.
The real kicker is in the details. Fans quickly noticed there are exactly 13 cartoon clouds featured on the billboards, and since 13 is Taylor's ultimate lucky number, everyone is wondering if this is a coincidence or a very intentional Easter egg.
Reps for both Disney and Swift had no comment when asked about the billboards, but they didn't deny anything either. Is it an admission by omission?
Feeding the frenzy, Pixar jumped into the fun by posting a video on social media with Jessie dancing atop one of the billboards. The studio captioned it by saying she is making those moves up as she goes, a direct nod to the lyrics of Shake It Off.
We don't know if Pixar is just playing games or if they are truly teasing a massive collaboration. If this turns out to be a big joke that amounts to nothing, Disney is going to have some bad blood with the fandom. Nothing is worse than the wrath of a scorned Swiftie.
For what it's worth, Disney and Taylor do have a history together. Disney+ became the exclusive streaming home for The Eras Tour movie, and they expanded that relationship with The Final Show and a six part documentary series.
Their partnership might be rooted in streaming, but there is no denying Disney recognizes that Taylor's star power could make the Toy Story 5 box office numbers soar beyond our wildest dreams.
Will Disney announce something official or keep any sort of collaboration a surprise? Or is this just one big joke fueled by a frenzied fanbase? It's worth pointing out that while the film's directors have denied her involvement with an end credits song, she still could have written or performed a mid-movie track or even provided a voice cameo for a character.
Toy Story 5 opens in theaters on June 19,2026.
