Football fans with children who may not share an interest in the sport may now be able to convince them to watch alongside with Nickelodeon's special presentation of the National Football League's Wild Card game on Sunday, January 10. CBS Sports and Nickelodeon are teaming up for a special "slime-filled presentation" of the Wild Card game at 4:30 p.m. (ET). The broadcast will begin at 4:00 p.m. with "The SpongeBob SportsPants Countdown Special" which highlights SpongeBob's best sports moments.
The Nickelodeon broadcast will feature "one-of-a-kind kid-focused content and Nick-themed elements throughout, including a special halftime presentation, guest reporters and original on-field graphics, virtual filters and more." The broadcast will also feature commentary by Noah Eagle (play-by-play announcer), Nate Burleson (CBS Sports' analyst) and Gabrielle Nevaeh Green (All That, Nickelodeon's Unfiltered).
As an added bonus, a special sneak peek of Kamp Koral: SpongeBob's Under Years will be shown during halftime.
First announced in 2019, Kamp Koral is a CG_animated prequel series to SpongeBob Squarepants. It follows a 10-yaer-old SpongeBob and his friends as they head to sleep-away camp for the summer where "they spend their time building underwater campfires, catching wild jellyfish and swimming in Lake Yuckymuck at the craziest camp in the kelp forest, Kamp Koral."
The series was originally supposed to air on Nickelodeon but was moved to ViacomCBS's rebranded streaming service Paramount+ (formerly CBS All Access) and will premiere in 2021. It will air on Nickelodeon later in the year.
The Nickelodeon broadcast of the Wild Card Game will air alongside CBS Sports broadcast. The Nickelodeon airing will be available to be streamed on mobile for free for all fans via the NFL App.
