At New York Comic-Con this weekend, it was confirmed that two more seasons of Avatar: Seven Havens are on the way. Speaking to thousands of fans at the big event, Avatar: The Last Airbender co-creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko revealed that the animated series has been renewed for Books 3 and Book 4.
Set after The Legend of Korra, Avatar: Seven Havens follows the new Avatar, Pavi, and her twin sister, Nisha, in a world devastated by a cataclysm, where humanity lives in settlements called the Seven Havens.
The series, which premiered on October 9 on Paramount+, had already been greenlit for two seasons (referred to as Books). Books 1 and 2 will each have 13 episodes, with the first three episodes of Book 1 available now. The remaining batches of Book 1 will arrive on October 16, 23, and 30. More details on Books 2, 3 and 4 will be shared at a later date, but at least we now know to expect a continued story.
Fans in attendance were also treated to an exclusive "script-to-screen" clip from the series, which you can watch below.
After a world-shattering disaster, a young Earthbender learns she's the post-Korra Avatar; now seen as a harbinger of doom, she and her twin race to save the Seven Havens while pursued by humans and spirits alike.
That's not all that was announced, though. Perhaps even more excitingly, a brand new original animated series, titled Avatar Kuruk: Wave of Chaos, was announced.
"In Avatar Kuruk: Wave of Chaos a rebellious teenage Avatar bucks thousands of years of tradition by choosing to learn the four elements through globetrotting adventures, staying one step ahead of his angry teacher, rowdy pirates, and chaotic spirits - all while helping the world in his own unique ways," the synopsis teases. Panel attendees were treated to an exclusive first look at Kuruk and his pet, Nikik.
Avatar Kuruk: Wave of Chaos is being produced by Avatar Studios and Nickelodeon Animation Studios with creator Bryan Konietzko serving as showrunner. A release date was not announced.
The renewal of Avatar: Seven Havens comes on the heels of glowing reviews from the series by critics and fans alike. The first season sits at a perfect 100% on Rotten Tomatoes with an equally impressive 81% on the Popcornmeter from fans. With most of Book 1 still to come, those scores could change as more viewers and critics weigh in on Pavi and Nisha’s unfolding adventure over the next few weeks.
