Pre-sale tickets for
Toy Story 4 went on sale earlier this week and the upcoming Pixar sequel is already soaring to infinity and beyond.
Online ticket retailer Fandango has confirmed that
Toy Story 4 has set a new record for most first day ticket sales for an animated movie, breaking
the record previously held by Incredibles 2, another Pixar title. An exact number was not revealed, but it's a good sign for the upcoming sequel regardless.
Incredibles 2, Pixar's long-awaited animated superhero sequel, went on to gross $608.6 million domestically and $1.2 billion worldwide at the box office. The wait between
Toy Story 3 and
Toy Story 4 hasn't been quite as long as the 14 years between the
Incredibles movies, but it has still been almost a decade since we last joined Woody, Buzz, and the rest of the toy gang on an adventure on the big screen.
Of course, many felt the ending of
Toy Story 3 perfectly wrapped up the franchise, so there was a little trepidation when
Toy Story 4 was announced; however, it doesn't appear to have impacted pre-sale tickets.
Woody has always been confident about his place in the world and that his priority is taking care of his kid, whether that’s Andy or Bonnie. But when Bonnie adds a reluctant new toy called “Forky” to her room, a road trip adventure alongside old and new friends will show Woody how big the world can be for a toy.
Toy Story 4 hits theaters on June 21, 2019.
