Fandango announced that Disney-Pixar’s The Incredibles 2 is on-track to become, not only one of the summer's most successful movies but also, the top animated pre-seller of all time.
On Thursday the online ticket vendor revealed, to Deadline, that the long-awaited sequel to The Incredibles is outpacing Finding Dory - which currently holds the pre-sale record - not to mention other recent summer blockbusters, such as Wonder Woman, Spider-Man: Homecoming, and Suicide Squad.
Here's what managing editor at Fandango, Erik Davis, had to say:
The film is already receiving terrific early buzz, and with summer vacation in full swing for many kids, ‘Incredibles 2’ is poised to become one of season’s biggest hits.
The sequel releases on the 15th of June. Recent tracking showed The Incredibles 2 is heading for an opening weekend in the $120 million to $140 million range in North America.
Disney’s distribution chief, Cathleen Taff, noted at CinemaCon that the film's teaser trailer was the most-watched animated teaser of all-time - with more than 113 million views in the first 24 hours.
With the immensely positive Twitter reactions and the afformentioned pre-sales; it seems the sequel might have been worth the 14 year wait after all.
What do you think about the incredible amount of pre-sold tickets? Did you contribute to that total?
