The
Toy Story animated film franchise is full to the brim with lovable side characters. Rex, Hamm, and Mr. Potato head all come to mind. In keeping with this,
Toy Story 4 introduces a bunch of fun, new characters. Forky, Duke Caboom, Ducky, Bunny, Gabby Gabby, and Giggle McDimples are all introduced in the new instalment and instantly become fan-favourite characters.
The latter those new characters is a miniature police office and companion of Bo Peep. She's voiced by
Cloak & Dagger and
Wrecked star Ally Maki. Though we get to see the backstories of Duke Caboom and Gabby Gabby, Giggle McDimples goes without one. All we know about her is that she protects and serves the tiny city of Mini-opolis and once had a fling with He-Man.
Maki recently did an interview with
Comicbook.com wherein she mentioned that she would love for Giggles' backstory to be explored in a future instalment or spinoff of some sort. Asked about appearing as the character in the future, Maki had this to say:
"I mean, honestly? As a true fan of Giggles and Toy Story? I want to know what happens in Mini-opolis. I want to see her as the cop. What kind of cases she's taking on. What kind of friends she has. She talks about how she serves and protects all the tiniest creatures, so I think Mini-opolis would be such a fun little tiny world to learn more about. I want to know Giggles' backstory."
Perhaps Disney-Pixar could put together some sort of animated short with Giggles at the centre. Tim Allen, Buzz Lightyear's voice actor, did
recently mention that he could see the
Toy Story franchise expanding in the same way as the Marvel Cinematic Universe - what with spinoffs aplenty.
Woody has always been confident about his place in the world and that his priority is taking care of his kid, whether that’s Andy or Bonnie. But when Bonnie adds a reluctant new toy called “Forky” to her room, a road trip adventure alongside old and new friends will show Woody how big the world can be for a toy.
Toy Story 4 is in theatres now.
