Toy Story 4 released in theatres just a week ago and seemingly brought an end to the beloved animated film series. However, we all thought the franchise was over when
Toy Story 3's credits rolled so there's a chance that it could be continued beyond the new instalment.
Tim Allen, the actor who voices the iconic character of Buzz Lightyear, recently did an interview with
US Weekly wherein he discussed whether he knows, wants, or could see the series continuing further. Allen explained that he sees similarities between the popular animated franchise and
"the Avengers movies," meaning that there could be a
Toy Story cinematic universe of sorts.
"I can’t give that away," Allen said when asked whether
Toy Story 4 is the finale of the series.
"There’s very little to suggest that this isn’t, at the very least, [part of] a much bigger world. It reminds me of the Avengers movies — there are not only offshoots of characters that have simultaneous stories, but the world itself got much bigger.”
Allen then continued, admitted that logically he believes the curtain has closed on
Toy Story. However, he admitted that it could very well continue and that he would find it difficult for it to not.
“My sense is it’s done. My creative side says, at the same time things end, there’s a new beginning. I would find it difficult not to just continue.”
Woody has always been confident about his place in the world and that his priority is taking care of his kid, whether that’s Andy or Bonnie. But when Bonnie adds a reluctant new toy called “Forky” to her room, a road trip adventure alongside old and new friends will show Woody how big the world can be for a toy.
Toy Story 4 is in theatres now.
