Based on the 1994 animated film of the same name, Disney's
The Lion King will be releasing in theatres in just a couple of days time. Ahead of its theatrical debut, some clips from the film itself have been released online. Now some footage from behind-the-scenes has surfaced online.
This B-roll footage comes courtesy of
Flicks And The City and almost the entire cast reciting their lines. The video pulls back the curtain on
The Lion King, revealing exactly how the voice acting work was done. We also get a look at actors like Donald Glover, Billy Eichner, and Seth Rogen performing the songs "Hakuna Matata," and "Can You Feel The Love Tonight."
In the latter half of the video, an interesting technique is made use of. The cast are made to perform their lines on a soundstage alongside their fellow actors. This most likely allows for more emotive and realistic-sounding dialogue as they're given the freedom to act regularly.

Director Jon Favreau’s all-new “The Lion King” journeys to the African savanna where a future king is born. Simba idolizes his father, King Mufasa, and takes to heart his own royal destiny. But not everyone in the kingdom celebrates the new cub’s arrival. Scar, Mufasa’s brother—and former heir to the throne—has plans of his own. The battle for Pride Rock is ravaged with betrayal, tragedy and drama, ultimately resulting in Simba’s exile. With help from a curious pair of newfound friends, Simba will have to figure out how to grow up and take back what is rightfully his. The all-star cast includes Donald Glover as Simba, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter as Nala, James Earl Jones as Mufasa, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa and Billy Eichner as Timon.
Disney's live-action remake of The Lion King is set to arrive in theaters on July 19th, 2019.
