The Angry Birds Movie is a film based on the popular 2009 mobile game developed by Rovio Entertainment, which was originally released in May of 2016; receiving very negative reviews from critics and audiences alike.
Sony Pictures Entertainment, in spite of the movie's reception, greenlit a sequel to
The Angry Birds Movie; this time with Thurp Van Orman(Adventure Time) and John Rice(Rick and Morty) replacing Clay Kaytis and Fergal Reilly as the film's directors.
The Angry Birds Movie 2 will still feature the same cast, with Jason Sudeikis as Red, Josh Gad as Chuck, Bill Hader as Pig Leonard, Danny McBride as Bomb, and Peter Dinklage as Mighty Eagle. This time around, the cast will be joined by Rachel Bloom as Chuck's sister, Sterling K. Brown as techpig Garry, and Awkwafina as Pig Leonard's assistant.
We still don't have an official release date for
The Angry Birds Movie 2, but Sony Pictures has just released the first official trailer for the movie — and it seems like the Angry Birds will be forming an unlikely alliance with the Pigs as they fight together to save their homes.
Take a look:
The flightless angry birds and the scheming green piggies take their beef to the next level in The Angry Birds Movie 2! When a new threat emerges that puts both Bird and Pig Island in danger, Red, Chuck, Bomb, and Mighty Eagle recruit Chuck’s sister Silver and team up with pigs Leonard, his assistant Courtney, and techpig Garry to forge an unsteady truce and form an unlikely superteam to save their homes.
The Angry Birds Movie 2 will slingshot into theaters this summer.
