SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE Co-Director Reveals Scrapped Plans For Live-Action Spidey Cameos

We didn't get to see animated versions of the Spider-Men played by Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland but Into the Spider-Verse's co-director has shed some light on original plans...

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse included a huge number of cameos both from comic book and cartoon versions of the wall-crawler.

Unfortunately, there was no sign of live-action Spideys like the Tobey Maguire Peter Parker from Sam Raimi's Spider-Man movies, Andrew Garfield's angsty hero from The Amazing Spider-Man, or the MCU's web-slinger played by Tom Holland. Now, co-director Rodney Rothman has revealed that they were going to be included at one point!

"I wrote a scene that had every, that had Tom Holland and Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire in the same scene and... I don't want to get into it but I did write that scene, but there's a lot of anxiety, there's a lot of anxiety around the movie generally and there was anxiety about confusing people."

That's a shame but after the success of Into the Spider-Verse, the studio and filmmakers will no doubt be confident enough to include these versions of the hero without worrying about moviegoers not understanding what's happening (which seems like a poor excuse anyway).

Are you disappointed that we didn't see these live-action Spideys in the animated adventure?
