Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is set for theatrical release in the United States on April 8th, 2022. We're about four or five months out from then and yet we're yet to receive a single trailer for the live-action video game movie sequel.
Jeff Fowler returns to direct; James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, and Jim Carrey will reprise their roles as Tom and Maddie Wachowski, and Dr. Robotnik respectively — as well as Ben Schwartz as the voice of the titular speedster.
The sequel will also feature the return of Colleen O'Shaughnessey as the voice of Tails, who briefly featured in the first instalment's post-credits scene. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will also introduce Idris Elba to the cast as the voice of Knuckles the Echidna.
Though it was rumoured that the first official trailer for the Sonic the Hedgehog movie sequel would be dropping on Thanksgiving (November 25th), and Paramount Pictures even hinted as much, that evidently didn't pan out. Now, though, a reputable leaker has declared that the trailer is done, it's a tad longer than two minutes, and will feature our first look at, the red wrecker himself, Knuckles.
Verified account @BigScreenLeaks does admit that they aren't sure when exactly the trailer will be released; though with it edited, done and dusted, we can only assume that it'll be dropping pretty soon. Perhaps it'll be a(n early) Christmas present.
