Disney recently announced that they would be putting a lot more focus on their streaming front moving forward, especially in the wake of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. For instance, Disney Pixar's upcoming animated movie Soul will no longer be coming to theatres but rather will debut directly on the Disney+ streaming service — more on that here.
Recently, the service added content advisory screens ahead of some of their older content and each and every month they add new movies and shows — for instance, just yesterday Disney Junior's The Rocketeer and Marvel's Iron Man and Captain America: Heroes United were added to Disney+ among other things.
What's more, now Rio 2 has been added to the streaming service. It's an animated musical comedy film produced by Blue Sky Studios, and the now defunct 20th Century Fox. Directed by Carlos Saldanha, Rio 2 premiered back in 2014.
The voice cast include Jesse Eisenberg, Anne Hathaway, will.i.am, Jamie Foxx, among others. The animated film also features guest stars including the likes of Bruno Mars and Bruno Mars and Andy Garcia. Of course, it's a sequel to 2011 film Rio. Its predecessor is already on Disney+. Here's a link to the official Rio 2 Disney+ page and below you can read the film's synopsis.
Blue macaws Blu (Jesse Eisenberg), Jewel (Anne Hathaway) and their three children are comfortably settled in the city -- perhaps too comfortably. Jewel fears that the children are becoming more like humans than birds. After learning that she and Blu may not be the last blue macaws after all, Jewel decides that their little family should visit the Amazon jungle. It's there that Blu meets his formidable father-in-law (Andy Garcia) and goes beak-to-beak with archnemesis Nigel (Jemaine Clement).
