Pixar's Animated Short BAO Is Available To Watch Online To Celebrate It Making The Oscars' Shortlist
Pixar's latest animated short-film Bao can now be watched on Pixar's YouTube channel - to celebrate it making The Oscars' shortlist for "Best Animated Short". Check it out...
The Oscars' 2019 shortlist was revealed earlier this week and featured Pixar's most recent animated short.
Bao, directed by Domee Shi (who will be helming a feature-length Pixar film), was attached to Incredibles 2 - which released earlier this year. The short would play before the film, amid the trailers and promos. Seeing as the Incredibles sequel's theatrical run is now over, to watch Bao you'd have to buy a copy of the superhero film - but no longer.
To celebrate Bao's nomination for "Best Animated Short Film", the incredible short is now available to watch, in its entirety, on Pixar's YouTube channel. Check out the synopsis, and short itself, below:
In Bao, an aging Chinese mom suffering from empty nest syndrome gets another chance at motherhood when one of her dumplings springs to life as a lively, giggly dumpling boy. Mom excitedly welcomes this new bundle of joy into her life, but Dumpling starts growing up fast, and Mom must come to the bittersweet revelation that nothing stays cute and small forever. This short film from Pixar Animation Studios and director Domee Shi explores the ups and downs of the parent-child relationship through the colorful, rich, and tasty lens of the Chinese immigrant community in Canada.
What do you think of the short? Are you looking forward to Domee Shi's feature-length debut?
