There have apparently been rumours floating around which claim that there's a live-action remake of Coraline in the works. The 2009 stop-motion animated cult classic was based on a story by Neil Gaiman. He recently took to social media (@neilhimself) to put an end to these swirling rumours once and for all.

The renowned author called the rumours "nonsense," and requested to know the source of it all. After some investigation, it seems that it all began because a fan suggested that Natalia Dyer (Stranger Things) should play the role of Coraline in a hypothetical, live-action remake. Evidently, some people took this tweet more seriously than it was ever intended to be taken.

Gaiman continued to tweet about the rumours, stating that he can only see opposition to a live-action remake. There are many examples of tweets from fans in which a remake is labelled superfluous as it wouldn't be able to stand up against the original and the countless years of craftsmanship that it took to make.
