Apple TV+ has shared the first teaser for its upcoming animated film Luck from Apple Original Films and Skydance Animation. The teaser introduces us to Bob the Cat as he takes us through the Land of Luck, a secretive world where magical creatures work behind the scenes to create the lucky and unlucky moments in humans' everyday life.

As Bob points point, the system operates so perfectly because no human has ever set foot in the Land of Luck — until now. In steps Sam Greenfield, the unluckiest person in the world. The teaser ends there, but the synopsis reveals Sam will set out on a quest "to bring some good luck home for her best friend."

Luck is directed by Peggy Holmes, who previously directed Disney's Tinkerbell features Secret of the Wings and The Pirate Fairy. Eva Noblezada stars as Sam Greenfield and she's joined by a cast that features some major star power including Academy-Award winner Jane Fonda (the Dragon), Simon Pegg (Bob the Cat), Lil Rel Howery, Flula Borg, John Ratzenberger, and Whoopi Goldberg.

Exclusive first look footage of the film will be shown at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival's Work in Progress session on June 14, 2022. Luck will premiere on Apple TV+ on August 5.

While Luck certainly looks adorable, it's not without controversy. It's the first new project from Skydance Animation since executive producer John Lasseter joined the company back in 2019 following his disgraceful departure from Pixar due to allegations of sexual misconduct. While the hope is that Lasseter's animation expertise would overshadow any controversy, that wasn't exactly the case. His involvement in the film resulted in actress Emma Thompson leaving the project while penning an open letter to Skydance Animation.
