A lot of coverage was directed at The Lego Movie sequel's disappointing box office opening and its correlation to an overall downward start to 2019 for the film industry.  So how did the film fair in its second weekend?

As the 3-day President's weekend comes to a close, The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part is projected to take home another $21.2M domestically, bringing its North American total to $67.2M.    The film currently sits at $97.3M worldwide with several key international markets still awaiting release. However, the first Lego Movie was already at $151.7M at the domestic box office alone in its second week.


THE LEGO MOVIE 2: THE SECOND PART SYNOPSIS
The citizens of Bricksburg face a dangerous new threat when LEGO DUPLO invaders from outer space start to wreck everything in their path. The battle to defeat the enemy and restore harmony to the LEGO universe takes Emmet, Lucy, Batman and the rest of their friends to faraway, unexplored worlds that test their courage and creativity.
